Villa d'Este Style 2022

On May first 2020, three “Villa d’Este Coupés” met in the garden of the eponimous Hotel: 915.884 and 915.916 (the only two cars which took part in every Villa d’Este Style event since 2012) and 915.890, as usual driven with great panache from its home in north-east Italy for a daily total of 1200 km.

Others were expected, but delays in their restorations meant that they were not able to be with us.

To make them company, we assembled a number of motor cars that could have been owned by a “Villa d’Este” driver in different periods: among which a pair of Alfa Romeo 1900s by Touring and Pinin Farina and a couple of Alfa Romeo 2600s, by Touring and Bertone; a Lamborghini 350 GT by Touring and a Maserati Quattroporte series 1; a Lancia Flaminia Coupé by Pininfarina and its prototype, the 1955 Florida. A racy 1935 MG NA was thrown in to remind us what the British industry produced to fight the first Alfa Romeo 6Cs.

But probably the most unexpected exhibit was a motor boat from the 1940s, powered by an Alfa Romeo 6C 2500SS marine engine!
